Overview
Barley grass is prized in Japan and increasingly across Europe and Australia for its mild taste, which makes it easier to formulate into daily greens than stronger-flavoured ingredients. YVELIA's powder is made from young leaves dried at low temperatures.
It is most often combined with wheatgrass, moringa and spirulina in greens blends, or used alone in 'aojiru'-style green drinks. Fine-mesh grades are available for instant-dispersing sachets.
Dosage: The general recommended intake is 1 to 3 teaspoons (about 2 to 5 grams) per day. Timing: It is best consumed on an empty stomach, either first thing in the morning or about 20–30 minutes before a meal. Method: Mix the powder into 150 ml or more of cold or lukewarm water, coconut water, juice, or a smoothie. Avoid adding it to boiling or hot liquids, as high heat can destroy sensitive vitamins and active nutrients.
Digestive Adjustment: It is generally safe, but consuming too much too quickly can cause mild side effects like bloating, gas, nausea, or diarrhea due to the high fibre content. Best Practice: Start with a tiny amount (such as a 1/4 or 1/2 teaspoon) and gradually increase your intake over a week or two to let your digestive system adjust.
Gluten Status: While the mature barley grain contains gluten, the young green grass harvested before seed formation is naturally virtually gluten-free. Coeliac Precaution: Cross-contamination can happen during industrial harvesting and processing. If you have coeliac disease or severe gluten sensitivity, only purchase products explicitly labelled and certified gluten-free.
